In Search of University Excellence: Perspectives from Russia and Central Asia

Dear friends,

In 2018,Peoples’ friendship university of Russia is honored to be a co-organizer ofQS WorldWide, to be held 22 – 23 May, 2018, in Moscow. I am sure this unprecedented event will become a site for high-level scientific, academic and cultural events. Hundreds of delegates from Europe, America, Asia and Africa and Oceania will meet for a few days at our university to discuss three global topics: Rankings as a Tool of Improving Universities’ Competitiveness; Enhancing University Brand – In Dialogue with Media & Corporate Partners; Developing Academic Collaborations and Internationalizing the Faculty.

It is not by chance that Peoples’ friendship university has been chosen as a site for such a conference, since it is a university with a great number of international students – 28,000 students from 155 countries worldwide. At this multinational university you will get a chance to meet colleagues – mathematicians and chemists, linguists and lawyers, ecologists and economists, engineers and medical doctors, agrarians and historians. The multi-levelsystem of education including undergraduate, graduate, PhD, and residency programs create conditions for quality education at seven faculties, ten institutes, an academy and 156 research laboratories. RUDN students can do internships at partner universities, and those enrolled in 130 joint programs have an opportunity to obtain both the RUDN diploma and that of a partner university, and we are open to further cooperation.

Apart from serious work at plenary sessions and master classes you will have time to see Moscow -one of the most beautiful cities of the world, enjoy a play at a famous Moscow theatre and also have a tour of RUDN campus, whichisconsideredoneofthebestinRussia. Academic and residential buildings are within a hand reach of each other on the territory of 50 hectares surrounded by parks. Stadiums, gyms, arenas, tennis courts and a ski centre – students do sport all year round and enjoy various afterclass activities.On RUDN University list of alumni (more than 100 000 alumni from 170 countries) there are presidents and ministers, hundreds of well-known politicians, entrepreneurs, scientists, and notable figures in culture. RUDN has established the world’s largest Association of RUDN Alumni and Friends. In 2010, UNESCO awarded the Gold Medal to RUDN for its invaluable contribution totraining specialists for countries with emerging and developing economies. RUDN has been actively engaged to work on programs and projects of the United Nations Organization and the Council of Europe.
